On Wednesday, YouTube revealed that full seasons of TV shows will soon be available on the service, which will be entirely free with advertising. There are already around 4,000 episodes accessible, including from programs such as Hell’s Kitchen and Andromeda.

According to a blog post from YouTube’s Movies & Shows team, over 135 million people in the United States watched YouTube on a connected TV last December. YouTube was already the most popular ad-supported streaming service, and now it has complete seasons of television programs for free. Additionally, the number of free movies available through YouTube has increased to over 1,500 thanks to Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate, FilmRise, and other studios. March’s new releases include Gone in Sixty Seconds, Runaway Bride, and Legally Blonde.
The team said that:
“To enhance the viewing experience, we’re unveiling brand new streamlined navigation and immersive banner art. The rich visuals and new menus will help you more easily find your favorite TV shows from the comfort of the couch, whether you choose to rent, purchase, or watch for free with ads. Many of these titles are also now available in high definition 1080p with 5.1 surround sound audio on supported devices.”
The free movies and shows on YouTube are available through the YouTube on TV app in the US. The YouTube on TV app is also compatible with web browsers, mobile devices, and most connected TVs. According to YouTube, it will add up to 100 new titles each week, so make sure to be on the lookout.
