iPad Air 2022 will remain largely the same compared to its predecessor. There are a few modifications, let’s go over everything we know about the new Apple tablet so far.

iPad Air 2022 expected specs

Design

The iPad Air is expected to maintain the same appearance as the existing model, with no interesting design changes planned. It’s conceivable that Apple will offer different color choices to set the new iPads apart from the original iPad Air, which is available in silver, space gray, rose gold, green, and sky blue.

The iPad Air, like the iPad Pro, is an all-display model with no Face ID. Instead of employing Face ID, Apple utilizes a Touch ID Power button for authentication. The tablet will continue to include Touch ID and have a 10.9-inch display and a USB-C connection.

Features that were first introduced in the iPad mini 6, such as front-facing stereo speakers, will be included in the iPad Air. 2022.

5G support

The third-generation iPad Air, like the current iPad mini, will have a chip that supports 5G networks. The “iPad mini” has a chip that can only access sub-6GHz 5G networks rather than the fastest mmWave 5G frequencies, so this is something we’ll have to wait and see about.

Sub-6GHz 5G is the more widely accessible version of 5G, whereas mmWave 5G is less common and has a shorter range.

AT&T and Verizon have recently expanded their 5G networks in the United States, using C-band spectrum to enhance mmWave coverage, so it’s conceivable that Apple took this into account when updating the iPad Air.

New processor

According to the latest rumors, the iPad Air 2022 will be equipped with an A15 CPU. The same 6-core A15 chip that powers the iPad mini 6 and iPhone 13 is expected in the iPad Air 2022. Apple downclocked the A15 chip in the iPad mini, so it works at 2.9GHz instead of 3.2GHz as it does in the iPhone, but whether or not this clock speed will be maintained for the iPad Air remains to be seen.

Center Stage

The iPad Air is said to include a new 12MP Ultra Wide front camera that will work with Center Stage, which was first seen on the iPad Pro and iPad mini 6.

FaceTime’s Center Stage is a FaceTime function that helps you stay in focus and framed while on a video call. The wide-angle front-facing camera inside the iPad captures more of the room, while the chip inside the device works to keep you in the spotlight as you move about.

When more than one person is on the call, the camera will zoom out to try and keep everyone in view and ensure that they’re a part of the video call. While designed with FaceTime in mind, Center Stage also supports other third-party video applications like Zoom.

The rear camera is expected to continue using a single-lens design, but Apple may add a quad-LED True Tone flash, which would be a first for the iPad Air.

More

We don’t anticipate any other major changes in the iPad Air. Because the body design remains unchanged, we won’t see any significant battery improvements. USB-C support will remain in place, and Apple accessories that include the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil 2 will be compatible.

iPad Air 2022 expected price

Most likely, the iPad Air‌ 2022’s pricing will not change when compared to the current iPad Air, and it will almost certainly be priced similarly. The starting price for the 64GB model is $599, with a 256GB option available for $749.
