Valve announced its 2021 best of lists including top sellers, best new releases, most-played games, and more. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Grand Theft Auto 5 continue to be dominant on Steam and outsell other titles, according to the data shared by Valve.
Steam: Best of 2021
It’s hard to say exactly which game was the best-selling or most-played because Valve doesn’t reveal that information, instead, games are ranked by tier:
- Top 12 games are called Platinum Tier
- Top 13-24 games are called Gold Tier
- Top 25-40 games are called Silver Tier
- Top 41-100 games are called Bronze Tier
These lists are based on data from internal Valve records between January 1, 2021 and ending December 15, 2021.

Dota 2, GTA V and CS:GO have been able to become top sellers last six years and PUBG: Battlegrounds and Rainbow Six Siege were able to appear on the list fifth time in a row. There are several first-time winners on the list, too such as Battlefield 2042, New World, and Valheim.
