It is possible to add emojis to your Discord text by typing out the emoji name or by using the emoji menu.

If you’re running your own server or have the authorization to do so in another one, you can add your custom emojis to it. Nonetheless, they can only be used on that specific server.

But, with a Discord Nitro subscription, you can use your own custom emojis on any additional server.

Emojis can be useful shorthand for tone and sense in a virtual conversation. In Discord, you can add emojis to your text, which can be really useful when it comes to communicating with people or even be indispensable. You can add the emojis already loaded in the app, or you can upload custom emojis if you’re interested in adding emojis to your text.

Read this tutorial to learn how to use them, whether you’re using the desktop, browser, or mobile app.

How to use emojis in Discord?

The most uncomplicated way to include emoticons in messages is to use the emojis available with any Discord account. You can access this in the app by clicking the smiley face on the right side of the message box, which is the emoji menu.

Tap the gray smiley face in the message box while on the mobile app. You’ll see the emoji menu with both standard and Discord-exclusive emojis and the section where you can see your most used emojis.

You can also type in the name of the emoji you want to use. You can find every emojis name which is bracketed by colons, using the emoji menu. For example, ? is , ? is , and so on.

The other alternative is to upload your own custom emojis to your Discord account.

How to add custom emojis to a Discord server?

It’s simple to add emojis to Discord. It’s just a matter of uploading an image of up to 128×128 pixels, and it’s then automatically resized and made ready for use. However, if you don’t have a Discord Nitro account, you’ll be restricted to using the custom emojis only on the server they’re being added to. Also, you can not use animated emojis.

You will need to use the desktop or browser version of Discord to upload your emojis.

  1. After you open the server you desire to upload an emoji to, click the down-arrow next to the server’s name in the top-left corner of the screen.
  2.  Choose “Server Settings.”

If you want to do this, it’s important to understand that you can only use up to 50 custom emojis per server by default. You can also get more emoji slots by having users boost your server. However, if you’re aiming for more than 250 emoji slots, you’ll need to have users with Discord Nitro accounts boost your server.
