An airbag problem may exist in some Tesla Model X and S cars from 2021.
Tesla Model X and S owners beware, your car might have an airbag defect
Last week, a recall was announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration after it was discovered that the driver airbag on as many as 7,600 vehicles may tear if deployed. Tesla has already produced over 11,000 of these two models in 2021.
According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s estimations, only 1% of those vehicles might have that airbag problem. The problem is due to a new production method used at one of Tesla’s suppliers in Mexico.
The problem was identified during quality tests and, thankfully, there are no reported injuries, incidents or deaths caused by this airbag issue.
All cars potentially impacted by the recall are being updated for free with Tesla’s airbags. Tesla will notify customers who own Model X vehicles manufactured between September 3 and September 23, or Model S cars produced between June 21 and September 29, of the recall and free repair.
