The latest manufacturer to show interest in manufacturing processors is OPPO. In the presentation that took place yesterday with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, we saw how Google gave major importance to the fact of being able to use its processor. Tensor has become the central element of their new phones. But Google is not the only company that designs its processors, we have examples such as Apple, Samsung, and Huawei.
OPPO also intends to design its own processors
The latest company to want to have its own processors is OPPO, according to Nikkei Asia. The company is reportedly already working on a project to manufacture the processor by 2023 or 2024.
As you can see, this is a long deadline and a project of this scale is not easy. Xiaomi took three years to have its Surge processor ready and abandoned that strategy very quickly.
First OPPO but… What about Vivo, OnePlus, or Realme?
We must not lose sight of the fact that OPPO is the fourth largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world, and there are other companies which share supply chain and investors, such as Realme, OnePlus, or Vivo. If OPPO manages to manufacture a succesful chip we could see this type of processor in more than one brand.
