Said and done. Microsoft has revived Clippy as emoji after surpassing the figure of 20.000 likes in a tweet. From now on, the mythical character will be the paper clip emoji, and it seems that not because the figure set by Microsoft was exceeded, but because the company has redesigned more than 1,800 of its emojis for Windows, Microsoft 365, Office, Microsoft Teams and other tools such as Flipgrid, where they arrive from today.
Microsoft redesigns more than 1,800 3D emojis for Windows, Office, and Teams
From a flat style and with very marked lines, we move to objects, people, and characters with a lot of relief that show with total clarity the bet of Microsoft for the 3D. 900 of these redesigned emoji will have animations in Microsoft Teams. According to Claire Anderson, in charge of emojis in Microsoft (emoji list, according to the company), this fact is a tribute to Skype.
Affirms Anderson in the release of presentation of these more than 1,800 emojis that “as the world moves towards hybrid work scenarios that combine in-person with remote and expressive forms of digital communication, they are more important than ever”. In this sense, Microsoft now has emojis to reflect this new hybrid work world born (or rather developed) as a result of the pandemic.
Of this, what the company has shown for the moment are sketches, but very useful to understand what they refer to and how they will represent this new reality of multitasking, video calls, “conciliation” and wearing a jacket for calls with pajama pants where they are not seen.
They also say of these expressive emojis that “far from being frivolous or ornamental, they are extensions of our humanity and an important communication tool”. In any case, they have a Fluent style that will fit much better with that of Windows 11 and the new Office applications. To see them in its most important products, Microsoft will make us wait until the holiday season.
