Today we’ve been able to learn that Vivo promises three years of Android updates for its X series. After Samsung announced last March that the company guarantees four years of official support to almost 100 phones, the rest of the manufacturers have started to take a similar path. The latest to join the trend has been Vivo, which has confirmed to its users that they will have three years of major updates, and not only security patches.

In addition, just a few days ago OPPO also announced three years of updates for its X3 Series phones. However, the third year will only feature security patches, so it will only be two years of system updates.

Vivo X series will get major Android updates next three years

The Chinese manufacturer has announced through a press release the news that its high-end phones will have up to 3 years of updates, both system and security updates. However, there is a downside that we will discuss later, since these three years of Android and security updates will not be applied to all models. The list of mobiles that will have up to three years of official support does not include the Vivo X51 5G, which was launched earlier.

It is clear that the Chinese firm, which is in the process of expanding in Europe, has also wanted to surprise its users with this press release, especially in order to continue competing against other manufacturers that are joining this latest trend.

The vast majority of manufacturers offer only two years of system updates and security patches.
