OnePlus 9 Pro has a 120Hz OLED panel on the front
The screen is once again one of the striking things of the Pro version of the latest OnePlus releases. We are once again looking at a 6.7-inch screen with Quad HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 360Hz sampling rate.
The OLED panel mounted on the device makes use of LTPO technology, which allows it to vary its refresh rate between 1 and 120Hz based on the content displayed on the screen.
So if, for example, you are reading an article or viewing an image in the gallery, the screen reduces the number of times it refreshes every second to just 1Hz to save battery life.
Add to that the inclusion of technologies such as HDR10+, MEMC, natural color mode 10-bit color depth, and a brightness that reaches 1,300 nits to become one of the brightest panels on the market.
In addition to all of the above, it should be mentioned that the OnePlus 9 Pro’s screen is curved, although not as much as in the previous generation of the series. This year, the depth of the curves has been reduced to avoid the main problems of this type of panels, such as the appearance of aberrations in color or accidental touches.
Surrounding the phone’s display we find an aluminum chassis, which serves as a nexus for the two glass panes that form the back and front of the phone.
There are three color options you can choose from: the silver one is the only one with glossy glass on the back, as the green and black colors have been treated to offer a rough matte finish. We should also say that this phone is water-resistant, under an IP68 certification.
Hasselblad backing a revamped camera system
Three years and a million-dollar investment are the pillars on which OnePlus’ agreement with Hasselblad, the iconic Swedish company specializing in photography.
On the back of the device, we find a 48MP main camera. It is a Sony IMX789 sensor built based on the needs of the Chinese firm, with an f/1.8 aperture and optical stabilizer.
This camera is supported by a 2MP monochrome sensor, which allows capturing artistic images while preserving a greater amount of detail and quality.
The other important camera is a 50MP Sony IMX766 ultra-wide-angle sensor that makes use of a “FreeForm” lens, capable of reducing distortion by up to 20%.
Unlike what happens with the OnePlus 9, this model has an 8MP telephoto lens accompanied by an optical stabilizer that gives the possibility to capture portraits without distortion, and take digital zoom shots up to 30x.
Hasselblad’s experience in the field of photography to the calibration of the sensors, with the aim of obtaining a more natural and accurate color profile.
In addition, the Pro mode integrated into the camera app has been revamped to reorder some options based on Hasselblad’s recommendations and to include new options and features, such as the ability to capture 12-bit RAW images.
This smartphone can capture videos at 8K resolution at 30 fps. Also, it can record 4K videos at 120 fps. What does not change much is the front sensor, with a 16MP lens and fixed focus.
Snapdragon 888, 5G and fast charging
OnePlus 9 Pro has Qualcomm’s latest generation Snapdragon 888 5G processor, accompanied by 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.
All of this is backed by a 4,500mAh capacity battery. Warp Charge 65T technology allows you to charge the entire battery in less than half an hour. This charger can also recharge other devices at a power of up to 45W thanks to the USB PD and PPS standards.
On the other hand, there is the wireless Warp Charge technology which allows charging the entire battery in just under 45 minutes. This device has OxygenOS based on Android 11.
