Some cell phones come with ARCore under the arm at launch, others get it later. ARCore is Google’s augmented reality system, to which new models are added almost every week. In the latest update to the list of supported models, Google has added 26 models.
ARCore comes to many smartphone models
These 26 phones will be able to start using apps and websites that require ARCore, such as Google’s 3D animals, after downloading and installing ARCore from Google Play. Joining the list are eight OPPO mobiles, seven from Samsung, four from Xiaomi, and other models such as the OnePlus Nord N10.
3D animals and more, for 26 other Android mobiles
Google has updated the list of models supported by ARCore, Android’s standard augmented reality system. Added to the list are 26 new models, including everything from models that have been on the market for a while to new releases and even a couple of mobiles that have not yet been introduced.
Current list of phones with ARCore support
For models already on the market, this means that owners can now download and install ARCore from Google Play, whereas previously it would appear as “not supported”. ARCore goes far beyond seeing tigers or lions in your living room: It can even be used to upload photos to Google Street View or to get better integration in augmented reality games, such as Pokémon Go.
