GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB specs are leaked and we can also talk about its price and relase date.
Leaks continue about the NVIDIA’s new high-end graphics card GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 20GB of memory. According to the latest information, it will be positioned very close to the GeForce RTX 3090, the most powerful graphics solution currently marketed by NVIDIA in the consumer market.
A new leaked GPU-Z screenshot has allowed us to see the card. In theory, now we have the full specifications of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, and in general, and it confirms the previous leaks.
GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB expected specs
According to the leak, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti would use a GA102 core, the same that mounts the RTX 3090, and would feature the following:
- 10,496 shaders at a frequency of 1,395MHz-1,695MHz, in normal and turbo mode
- 328 texturing units
- 112 raster units
- 328 tensor cores
- 82 RT cores
- 320-bit bus
- 20GB GDDR6X memory at 19.5GHz
- TGP: 320-Watts
GeForce RTX 3080 Ti vs. GeForce RTX 3090: What’s the difference?
Both GPUs have many similarities, and even it may seem that there are no major differences, the truth is that there are, two to be exact. The first difference is easy to see, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will have 20GB GDDR6X memory instead of 24GB, and the second one is the memory bus, which will be 320-bits and not 384-bits.
We don’t expect that the smaller amount of graphics memory will end up making a major difference, as 20GB is more than enough to guarantee a long lifespan, even in 4K. But regarding the memory bus, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is going to have 10,496 shaders, a huge amount of shader units that are going to need a lot of bandwidth to be able to work truly optimally.
Reducing the memory bus from 384-bits to 320-bits would mean dropping from 936GB/s to 760GB/s of bandwidth. The difference seems considerable, and with this change, the performance of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti might be a bit lower than the GeForce RTX 3090’s. And the performance drop will be visible despite the fact that both will have the same amount of SM units, and therefore the same number of shaders.
The first performance tests shows this. As we can see in the attached graph, the GeForce RTX 3090 is slightly more powerful than the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti in 3DMark.
GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB expected price and release date
We still don’t have an exact release date, and we don’t know what the official price of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will be, but seeing how they position the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 and taking into account that the Radeon RX 6900 XT has a recommended price of $999, it is most likely that this new NVIDIA graphics card will end up around $999 to $1,099.
