Razer Viper 8K claims to be the world's fastest mouse with 8,000Hz polling rate

Razer Viper 8K might be the worl’s fastest mouse thanks to HyperPolling technology which allows it to reach 8,000Hz polling rate.

In the world of gaming, every millisecond is crucial. To make the response time almost instantaneous between the user’s action and the impact on the computer, peripherals are the part that the industry is always looking to improve. Razer, which specializes in them, now has what it claims to be the world’s highest polling rate mouse, the Razer Viper 8K.

The polling rate is an important spec in this matter. It shows how many times the mouse tells the computer what its position is in a given time. While the peripherals industry is around 1,000 Hz, the new Viper 8K goes up to 8,000 Hz.

This new mouse follows a bit with the idea and style of Razer focused on video games. Despite everything, we must remember that they have previously entered little by little in other worlds such as office automation with their white and minimalist peripherals.

The mouse features Razer HyperPolling technology, which is what allows it to achieve such high speeds. In addition, it includes a 20,000dpi Focus Plus optical sensor for mouse precision. This sensor is responsible for indicating exactly where the mouse is located and being able to recognize minimal movements.

For these refresh rates to be maintained Razer has had to put the technology into a wired mouse. Because wireless connectivity does not achieve such high refresh rates, a bottleneck would form that would make it virtually useless to have such a high polling rate in the mouse.

This new mouse should in principle allow faster responses and above all less micro pauses of the pointer. Often computer screens have a higher refresh rate than the mouse, thus causing the mouse to not have enough data to send in time and consequently to show small pauses and jumps.

The mouse itself has an ambidextrous design so that it can be used equally with both hands. Its final weight is a mere 71 grams and the coating is said to make the mouse glide frictionless. Users will have eight fully programmable buttons and five different configuration profiles.

Razer has put this new mouse on sale for a total of $79.99 as the recommended retail price. The Razer Viper 8K is now available for purchase and replaces the previous generation Razer Viper.
