Recently released in the Galaxy S21 5G, the Samsung Exynos 2100 is already the subject of much controversy, starting with the first performance gap against Qualcomm’s equivalent Snapdragon chips. However, it seems that Samsung is aiming even higher, preparing a new generation of chipsets with AMD, with which it would also surpass, again by far, the latest Apple processors.
Upcoming Samsung Exynos with AMD GPU already outperforms Apple’s Bionic A12
This has been assured by the Chinese portal IT Home, who claim that GFXBench scores were shared on a Korean forum, with graphics benchmark scores that would place the Exynos in development has a performance almost twice better than the Apple A14 Bionic, at least when frame rates are taken into account.
Samsung Exynos:
- Manhattan 3.1: 3.1 – 181.8FPS
- Aztec Ruins Normal Tier: 138.25FPS
- Aztec Ruins High Tier: 58FPS
Apple A14 Bionic:
- Manhattan 3.1: 3.1 – 146.4FPS
- Aztec Ruins Normal Tier: 79.8FPS
- Aztec Ruins High Tier: 30.5FPS
However, there are still other GPU benchmarks as well as other factors to consider before giving the crown to the Exynos. And it is worth noting that the Apple chip it is being compared to is already two generations old; Plus the fact that the overall performance of a mobile processor does not depend solely on the CPU or GPU either, but on a combination of both, and two parts coming from different companies could have some growing pains at least in the first iteration.
That without obviating that, for the moment, these data are centered on a rumor as they are not currently available on the benchmark page itself.
Finally, this same source also adds the latest rumors about the possible arrival date of this new Samsung flagship chipset, pointing to date between the first and second quarter of this year. A date in which we could only currently place the Galaxy Z Fold3, for which a combination of AMD mobile graphics to power their Exynos chipsets had already been advanced.
