The United States cancels all permissions to collaborate with Huawei. Since the Donald Trump administration included Huawei on the Entity List in early 2019, many U.S. companies have requested permission to collaborate with the Chinese firm.
In fact, that is what the Entity List is for, to force companies to ask for express permission from the government.
During almost two years of this veto, many have requested permission, and some important companies such as Qualcomm or Intel have been able to obtain it. But that is going to change.
The United States cancels all permissions to collaborate with Huawei
With only a few days left before Donald Trump leaves the Oval Office, his administration has decided to revoke the few licenses that American companies had obtained to operate with Huawei.
This way, brands like the two mentioned above will not be able to sell processors to the Chinese company, which could have problems not only with their cell phones but also with their laptops.
According to a Reuters exclusive, this decision would not come alone. All pending petitions, which are many, would be denied en bloc, preventing any collaboration between Huawei and the American firms.
Donald Trump wants to leave the White House, damaging as much as possible a company that his administration considers a danger to national security.
Now, these companies have up to 45 days to appeal any decision, but it will be up to the Joe Biden administration to change this policy or go forward with Trump’s belligerence.
