Snapdragon SC8280 would be a direct competitor of Apple M1.
Qualcomm wants to continue looking for a niche in the market for laptops based on the Windows 10 operating system, and the latest reports reveal that the company is working on a high-end SoC to be launched this year to make it more likely, the so far known Snapdragon SC8280, which has been shown to have an import/export database.
Snapdragon SC8280 would be a direct competitor to the Apple M1
This SoC would be the successor to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx and Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2, the first chips under the ARM architecture that the company used to bring laptop computers to life with Microsoft’s operating system, although why to deny it, neither the original version nor the improved one has managed to attract attention in the market, basically because except for one model of Microsoft’s Surface, there is no other product with this SoC.
The Snapdragon SC8280 will be able to offer up to 32 GB of LPDDR4X RAM integrated inside it, although there would be a more powerful variant with at least 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, having to assume that at least with this memory you will reach 16 GB of capacity, not to mention equaling the 32 GB of the “base” model in its most complete version.
This SoC would be Qualcomm’s Apple M1, or well, at least that’s what is speculated, although seeing how well Apple has done on its first attempt, and how badly Qualcomm has done with its first and second attempt to reach the laptop market, and that the mobile market is evolving less and less than its competition, for now, we will have to be very skeptical about the information, and more when Apple already prepares many vitaminized versions of its silicon and has all the software manufacturers at its feet.
