How to use the “Adaptive Sound” feature of Pixel 5 on older models?
This feature is reaching older Pixel models thanks to a new method. You don’t need to root your device.
It can be enabled on older Pixel models, both on rooted and original phones. In addition, on phones with root, the Adaptive Sound feature will remain active even after the smartphone is restarted.
If your device is rooted, the first step is to download the specific version of the “Device Customization Services” application for Pixel 5 or Pixel 4a 5G, you can download it from APK Mirror.
Once we have the application installed, we have to download and install the Adaptive Audio Settings Enabler Magisk module from the Magisk Manager application and restart the device. Then, the option should appear in the device settings.
If you use an older Pixel model without root, you can also enable Adaptive Sound, although the process is a little complicated and it is necessary to use two shell commands.
We must install the version released for Pixel 5 or Pixel 4a 5G of the “Device Customization Services” and again, we can use APK Mirror.

After the application is installed, we enable “Pixel the USB debugging” from “Developer Options” by clicking on “USB Debugging”.
We connect our phone to the PC and enter the ADB environment, then execute the following 3 commands one by one:
- adb shell
- deviceconfig put devicepersonalization_services
AdaptiveAudio__enable_adaptive_audio true - deviceconfig put devicepersonalization_services AdaptiveAudio__show_promo_notification true
Once these three commands have been executed, the Adaptive Sound option should appear as visible in the device settings. The downside is that the Adaptive Sound option is not permanently activated and will be removed once the phone is rebooted.
