How to protect Facebook Messenger with Face ID or Touch ID?

The first thing we need to know is that Messenger does not really need App Lock, since our iPhone and iPad are already protected with TouchID and FaceID. This makes them practically impossible to access for anyone who does not have their biometrics registered on the devices.

In any case, an extra layer of security will never be out of place for the more skeptical, so it may be nice to offer this new feature.

The guidelines are the same whether you want to have TouchID or FaceID, so in the instructions, you only have to change one option for the other. How to protect Facebook Messenger with Face ID or Touch ID? These are the steps to follow:

  1. Open the Facebook Messenger app.
  2. Click on your profile image in the app.
  3. Click on Privacy.
  4. In the Privacy section, click on Block the application.
  5. You will only have to slide the toggle that says “Request TouchID/FaceID”

Once we have completed these steps and activated the unblocking request, a second part will be activated within Application Lock where we can choose how long we want to unblock again, you can choose from: immediately after leaving Facebook Messenger, after 1 minute, after 15 minutes or after 1 hour.

With these simple guidelines you will have your Messenger chats doubly protected, and even if they take your iPhone or iPad unlocked they will not be able to access the app and their conversations without the unlocking. This way you’ve learned how to protect Facebook Messenger with Face ID or Touch ID.
