Tiktok is once again the most popular app in the world. According to the latest Sensor Tower report, it is again at the top of the list of the world’s most downloaded apps in the third quarter of 2020.

TikTok’s growth has been epic. The social network for short videos was born in China in 2016, jumped to the international market in late 2017, and since 2018 has experienced an enormous increase in its user base.

The platform’s popularity has been unstoppable and has not been affected by the problems with the United States, which finally had a happy ending thanks to TikTok’s agreement with Oracle and Walmart. However, the exceptional situation we experienced during the lockdown made another tool stand out as the most downloaded app in the world. In the second quarter of 2020 Zoom snatched the first position in this ranking.

Now, the world experiences a new normal, TikTok regains its throne in the list of the most downloaded apps in the world. This is revealed in the latest report from Sensor Tower, which states that in the last quarter of 2020, TikTok downloads grow by 8% year-on-year.

Tiktok is once again the most popular app in the world. The second position is Facebook’s, although the number of installations has decreased a little, specifically by 2% year-on-year. Third place is Zoom’s, whose downloads continue to be very high across the globe. Zoom facilities were more than 21 times higher than those recorded in the same period last year.

The top five most downloaded apps in the world are completed by WhatsApp in fourth place and Instagram in fifth place.

As you can see in the graph above, the ranking differs depending on the mobile operating system. In Android, the five most downloaded applications from Google Play Store are TikTok, Facebook, Zoom, Snack Video and Google Meet. This list shows that short video applications and video calls are the new trends. In iOS, the five most downloaded apps from the App Store are TikTok, Zoom, YouTube, Instagram and WhatsApp. Tiktok is once again the most popular app in the world, we will see what 2021 brings.
