It is true that the specifications are not particularly very good, but with its affordable price, this device looks very interesting.
Microsoft Surface Laptop Go seems to have a nice resolution with that strange screen shortened horizontally by the 3: 2 aspect ratio. Also, Microsoft brings touch-screen for all the new Surface products.
Options to expand
The hardware configuration however stands out for the 10th generation Core processors: it is true that Intel has just launched its promising Tiger Lake processors, but the Core i5 1035G1 is a notable choice for laptops with this orientation.
You can buy the upgraded version of course with 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD.
Microsoft does not indicate the capacity of the battery and only assures that it will have 13 hours of autonomy and fast charging. But those statistics are generally given for optimal usage. In a real scenario, it is likely to drop significantly, but it is true that the components – including the screen – are not particularly large battery consumers.
There are other interesting features such as the power button with integrated fingerprint sensor, a component that makes its debut in Microsoft products that until now had opted for the IR camera and facial recognition as a biometric element.
The choice of ports is also striking, especially for the USB-C port that seems to be convincing those responsible for this product division. They do not forget the USB-A port, although they maintain the Surface Connect port that is still necessary to charge the equipment.
The last unique detail of these computers is the pre-installation of Windows 10 Home with Mode S activated. This mode of operation forces, for example, to limit ourselves to the Microsoft Store to find applications.
