Facebook tests Instagram Stories to be viewed directly on Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg’s company has been promoting cross-posting. This way, you can tell if you are viewing a Facebook or Instagram Story based on the color surrounding the profile photo, since Facebook Stories have blue circles and Instagram Stories have the same pink/orange tones as the icon itself.

Matt Navarra, a social media expert revealed this feature and Facebook confirmed it.

🧐 WTF?!

This is going to get confusing!

Facebook is taking a new step with Instagram Stories strategy to merge its platforms

Last month, Facebook began merging Facebook Messenger and Instagram chat, so hopefully over time, WhatsApp will also become a part of this unified chat experience.

Thus, to view an Instagram Story on Facebook, you must be logged in on both Facebook and Instagram. And you must also link your Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Most people have connected their presence on both platforms (as Facebook asks you to do so at every opportunity), but if you’ve restricted who can access your posts on Instagram, your Facebook connections won’t be able to see you either. unless they’re in your ‘Best Friends’ group.

Basically the only people who will be able to see your Instagram Stories on Facebook are those that you are connected on both. Thus, brands that have a presence on both platforms will have another new opportunity to gain visibility, since not only users but also companies will be eligible for their Stories to be shown through this new functionality.

In any case, it’s a small-scale test for now, so you probably won’t see this new pop-up. But if the test goes well, it could be another exposure option to consider.

What is clear is that with this new integration the exposure of a Instagram Story will be increased and could help Facebook to increase its participation.
