How to add a shortcut to the Windows start menu? Windows and its start menu have never gone unnoticed since the arrival of Windows 8.1 a few years ago. With Windows 10, a more traditional and user-requested design has been recovered, which can be improved even more in a very simple way. We explain how to add a shortcut to the Windows 10 start menu.

Adding a shortcut to the Windows 10 start menu can be very useful. Thanks to this, we can have more accessible a multitude of files or functions of the operating system. For example, you can access the folder with your favorite music or the most important documents with a couple of clicks.

To create a custom shortcut in the Windows 10 start menu, the first thing we need to do is access the following path. Logically you will have to change “Username” for your username.

C:> Users> Username> AppData> Roaming> Microsoft> Windows> Start Menu> Programs

With this we will enter a window that contains all the accesses that are shown in the Windows 10 start menu.

What to do if the appdata folder is not displayed?

It is very likely that your AppData folder will not be shown, this is because it is a folder that is hidden in the default configuration of Windows 10. The reason for this is that it is a folder that contains essential files for the proper functioning of your installed programs. Touching something you should not within AppData can cause a program to stop working, so it is hidden by default.

Showing it is very simple. You just need to go to the Windows 10 file explorer. Once there, at the top select ” View ” and then check the option “Hidden golders”. With this, all the hidden folders and files of Windows will be visible. Be careful what you touch.
